Anger Management: How to overcome Anger


Anger is just like any other emotion such as happiness, and when dealt properly it can become our strong points. Suppose a person who gets angry easily can start doing Boxing, Karate, Kick Boxing, etc because anger is very essential in those kinds of sector. All the people get angry time to time and say things or do things which make them regret later. In addition, if anger is not dealt properly, it can hurt our relationships, career and reputations. Therefore, if you are a short temper person then you need to learn more about anger management.

Anger management is the skill to deal with anger properly and remain calm and composed and to take appropriate action to deal with anger effectively. There are techniques to manage anger effectively. If you get angry too much and for a long time then consider the following tips to deal with your anger effectively.

Tips to overcome Anger


1.       Think before you speak: While you are getting heated by things around you, you tend to say things or do things that you will regret later. Even though, you are extremely angry think about the things that you are going to say and the consequences as well.

2.       Express your anger once you are calm: Hold up until you have quieted down from your outrage and after that express your anger or outrage without hurting others feeling. You should be assertive rather than being forceful.

3.       Get some exercise: When you are angry instead of saying things and doing things that you will regret later, try to vent your anger by doing exercise such as you can go for a walk or run, or spend some time with doing things that you love.

4.       Take a time out: Time out is not only for the player in a sport to re-think about their strategy. Take a short break if you are accumulating stress and having stressful days. This will give you refreshment and a few minute of time spending alone or visiting new place with friends or anything that will refresh you from your daily schedules might help you to feel better and can avoid your cause of anger.

5.       Identify possible solutions: It can be useful to recognize what made you furious in any case. In any case, it is more important to concentrate on an approach to determine the possible solution of the causes of your anger. In addition, you have to understand that being angry is not going to help you anyway and it will make situation worse only.

6.       Don’t hold grudge: Holding grudge is only going to increase your anger. Therefore, you need to learn to forgive who has angered your or done something wrong. If you allow negative feeling such as holding grudge then you are putting yourself in much worse situation and find yourself swallowed by your own bitterness. You can’t control how other people behave but you can learn to forgive others if they had done something wrong.

7.       Use humor to release tension: Yow can relate things that are making you angry with humor and the simple act of laughing can make you feel better. But, keep in mind that others might misinterpret your laughing though it can make you feel better. And, don’t use sarcasm like most of the angry people as it can make situation only worse.

8.       Practice relaxation skills: When your temper is increasing, practice relaxation skills. You can practice deep breathing exercises, listen to music, do yoga, write diary, etc to make you calm and composed.

9.       Know when to seek help: Trying to do things that are far beyond your ability is only going to stress you and lead you towards anger. Therefore, know your ability and ask for help if you alone can’t do things right.
